Dubai, UAE – November 2025 – The Mayor of Ponte de Sor, Rogério Alves, and Captain Wissam Mehyou today announced a significant investment in the creation of a new aviation academy in Ponte de Sor, Portugal. The project will cover 4,000 square meters within the Ponte de Sor Municipal Aerodrome, where the Ponte de Sor Aeronautical Cluster is located, with an investment of up to €4 million.
The new academy aims to become the most sustainable flight training academy in Europe, integrating innovative and eco-friendly practices in the training of future aviation professionals. The training program will follow the standards of excellence of the International Aviation Academy (FlyIAA), ensuring high-quality instruction aligned with the best international practices.
“This investment in Ponte de Sor not only strengthens the aviation sector in Portugal but also reinforces our commitment to sustainability and innovation in pilot and aviation professional training,” said Rogério Alves, Mayor of Ponte de Sor.
